The worst is when you change it by accident. Then, poof the card is gone. "Sorry customer, I typed a number in the wrong field and now your auth has vanished and I need to bug you again instead of just being able to Ctl+z."

Hey y'all,
We're making some updates to this experience over the next couple weeks so you don't lose the history of previous authorizations, even when prices change. We know how frustrating this can be today when the authorizations get hidden as soon as you make changes.
We'll share more details once the updates are live, but our overall plan will be to preserve the authorization records and the exact amount authorized from your client, regardless of whether you've changed the activity price.
If you have any questions or additional feedback in the meantime, definitely let us know!

Brad Turner Thanks, this will make our lives easier! Some give authorization to use the credit card on the trip for all purchases after they have approved the trip. They do not have the time to be bothered with each individual authorization and minor changes.

Brad Turner great news!

Brad Turner Thank you so much! I really do appreciate how this product has grown over the years. Made this mistake twice. Now I reach out to them and tell them that the price has changes, pay for it, then update it. However, I then lose the authorization. Hopefully, this makes things better.

One option is to allow an agent defined buffer range. My terms say that if a price increases by more than $50 or 10%, which ever I will contact them for approval. Otherwise, I will proceed with payment. If the price decreases for the exact same service, I will proceed with payment to confirm. It seems that this could be a feature in the system, so that if the price adjusts within the buffer(s) set by the agent and communicated to the client, a change in price within the buffer would not activate a the requirement for reauthorization.

Indigo Bandicoot
Marigold Narwhal I am talking about if you go in to correct the amount you are charging, the credit card erases even if the amount goes down. I am tired of having to snapshot the card number with my cell phone so I don't lose the information.

Blush Cat
Marigold Narwhal this is what I do as well. I always give a buffer on dynamic pricing too. The client has approved up to that amount.
I do look forward to the changes that Tern will be making though, as per Brad's comment. That will greatly help with the history of the booking and when multiple people are paying on the same booking.

Superb Porpoise
Indigo Bandicoot I change the price in TERN after the payment has been processed. But hopefully the changes they make will alleviate any issues.

If the air ticket price goes above what was authorized, don't you need a new authorization to purchase? If it goes down, then purchase the ticket with the authorization already given since it covers the ticket cost. THEN go back and adjust the price in the system.

Bisque Rooster
Bronze Gayal this is not the workflow for many agents. My clients would be beyond frustrated if I made them fill out a new authorization every time a price adjusted - this could be air, a hotel priced in Euro that is now slightly different due to currency conversions, anything. It’s resolved with a text or email where I tell them the amount it increased, and they respond “yes go ahead”.
This is a situation in which it puts it back on the agent - if they (I) don’t want to get a new authorization from the client, then it’s on us. Tern has done their job already by getting the original.

Bisque Rooster I do the same as you and contact my client directly, then once I input the payment into the supplier, I will go back and change the amount that was approved by my client so I don't have to ask for authorization again.
