Mobile App UX Feedback – Numeric Keypad for Numeric Fields

I'd like to share a mobile usability improvement based on my experience using the Tern app as a traveler.
As a travel advisor, I use the Tern mobile app for my own trips so I can experience the same booking and payment process my clients encounter.
One friction point I've noticed is the credit card entry process. When tapping the card number field, my mobile device displays the standard alphabetic keyboard rather than a numeric keypad. This takes up a significant portion of the screen with keys that aren't needed for entering payment information.
Suggested Improvement
Consider implementing the HTML inputmode="numeric" attribute for credit card numbers, zip code, CVV fields, and other numeric-only inputs where appropriate.
This would encourage mobile devices to display a numeric keypad instead of the standard keyboard.
Why This Matters
• Makes entering payment information easier on smaller screens.
• Reduces unnecessary switching between keyboard layouts.
• Creates a smoother mobile checkout experience.
• Helps reduce friction during a critical step in the booking process.
While this may seem like a minor interface adjustment, small usability improvements can have a meaningful impact on the overall client experience.
I appreciate the work your team continues to put into Tern and wanted to share this observation from both an advisor's and a traveler's perspective.
